IB Global Perspectives

 The Middle Years Program at College Park Middle School is a 3 year program for students in grades 6-8. The program is designed to help students develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and understanding necessary to become responsibly active world citizens.

The MYP is internationally recognized and encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world, and become critical and reflective thinkers. The program consists of eight subject groups providing a balanced approach to education.

Service as Action (Community Service)

Service as Action is a required component of the IB Middle Years Program that supports our Mission Statement of inspiring student to develop the skills and attitudes needed to be successful in a multicultural world.

Participating in Service as Action helps students make to begin to connect the classroom with world through the application of the skills and knowledge gained in the classroom. Students in Year 1 (6th grade) are asked to complete 2 unrelated activities during the course of the school year. Students in Year 2 (7th grade) will complete 4 unrelated activities while student in year 3 (8th grade) will complete the Community Project. Having students participate in a variety of service activities in their communities will allow them to further develop the Leaner Profile Traits while making meaningful contribution to their communities.

Students are asked to complete a reflection for each activity that they participate in and submit the hours of service on the hours log.
