Bulldog Families,
As we enter the final weeks of the first quarter, every student must remain focused, make responsible choices and finish strong. This week, students enrolled in All Sciences, Civics, Algebra 1 and Geometry will complete PMA 1 assessments. Please help your Bulldog arrive on time, get enough rest and come prepared to give their best effort.
We are also reminding students about the importance of handling conflict appropriately. Disagreements may happen, but harassment, bullying and physical confrontations are never acceptable. Students must communicate with a teacher, counselor, dean, administrator or another trusted adult when they experience or become aware of a problem.
Walking away, remaining calm and asking an adult for help are signs of strength and maturity. Students who choose to harass, bully or engage in physical confrontations should expect significant disciplinary consequences in accordance with the OCPS Code of Student Conduct.
Together, we can protect instructional time and maintain a school environment where every Bulldog feels safe, respected and ready to learn.

🛑 Handle Conflict the Bulldog Way

Students should never attempt to solve a conflict through threats, harassment, social media posts or physical aggression.
When a conflict begins, students should:

1. ✋ Stop and remain calm.
2. ↔️ Create space and avoid escalating the situation.
3. 🗣️ Use respectful words to communicate.
4. 🚶 Walk away when the situation is becoming heated do not stay in large groups who are instigating the situation.
5. 🙋 Report the concern to a staff member immediately.
6. 📱 Avoid posting about the conflict or encouraging others to become involved.
7. 🤝 Allow adults to help resolve the situation safely.

Students should report concerns to a teacher, counselor, dean, administrator or any trusted staff member. If the first adult is unavailable, students should continue communicating until they receive help.
Harassment, bullying and physical confrontations are not tolerated at College Park Middle School. Students who violate these expectations will receive consequences in accordance with the OCPS Code of Student Conduct.

📝 PMA 1 Assessments

PMA 1 assessments will take place throughout the week for students enrolled in:

• 6th, 7th, 8th Grade Science
• Civics
• Algebra 1
• Geometry

These assessments help teachers identify student strengths, monitor progress and determine where additional support is needed.
Families can help students prepare by ensuring they:
✅ Attend school each day
✅ Arrive on time
✅ Get enough sleep
✅ Eat a healthy breakfast
✅ Bring a charged laptop
✅ Take their time and give their best effort

💬 Ask Your Bulldog

Take a few minutes this week to ask your student:

• Which PMA assessment will you take this week?
• Are you missing any assignments in Skyward or Canvas?
• Which adult at school would you speak with if you needed help?
• How can you prevent a disagreement from becoming a confrontation?
• What should you do if you witness harassment or bullying?
• What is one goal you want to accomplish before the first quarter ends?

📘 The Parent Playbook

Families play an important role in helping students make safe and responsible decisions.
Please remind your Bulldog to report conflicts, harassment, bullying and threats to a staff member. Encourage your student to walk away from confrontations and avoid using social media to continue disagreements outside of school.
Families can also help students finish the first quarter strong by:

1. 📱 Reviewing Skyward for current grades and missing assignments.
2. 💻 Checking Canvas for upcoming assignments and assessments.
3. 🗓️ Creating a plan for completing unfinished work.
4. ⏰ Maintaining consistent bedtime and morning routines.
5. 📧 Contacting teachers early with questions or concerns.
6. 🎉 Recognizing improvement, effort and responsible choices.

💗 Pink Out Friday

Friday, October 2, is Pink Out Day at College Park Middle School. Students and staff are encouraged to wear pink as we come together to support breast cancer awareness.
Let’s fill the campus with pink and demonstrate the strength, compassion and unity of the Bulldog community! 💗🐾

🎉 PBIS September Celebration

Our September PBIS Celebration will take place during lunch on Friday, October 2.
This celebration recognizes Bulldogs who have demonstrated positive behavior and upheld school expectations. We are proud of the students who continue to make responsible choices and contribute to a safe, respectful and positive school environment.

🎯 Principal Fontaine’s Weekly Challenge

This week, I challenge every Bulldog to show strength through self-control.
When faced with frustration or conflict, pause before reacting. Use respectful words, walk away and communicate with a trusted adult. Real leadership means making the right decision, even when emotions are high.
Your choices determine your direction. Choose actions that protect your future and reflect the Bulldog standard.
