Principal's Message

Welcome to College Park Middle School!

May 22, 2022

Mr. Brown, Principal, College Park MS

Weekly Sunday Report

This will be the final regular Sunday Weekly Report for the 2021-2022 school year. While additional correspondences will be sent regularly throughout the summer months, those messages will come to you on an as needed basis. Your next Weekly Report is scheduled for July 31, 2022.

As we bring this school year to a close, I reflect on the academic successes of our students. We saw academic growth with our lowest performers, exponential growth in our highest performing students and closed gaps in several tested areas. After almost 2 years of unbalanced education, our students had to readjust to life with their peers and that readjustment was not without it's struggles.

This year we held several dances, celebrations for students who exemplify our College Park philosophy, concerts for Chorus, Band and a spectacular recital by our Dance team at Edgewater High School last Thursday. We had an increase in the number of students inducted into the National Junior Honor Society and an increase in the number of students enrolled in our IB program . This year our students visited universities, our state capital and explored the world through field trips.
Additionally, we engaged with community partners to provide mentoring on campus and we thank Wake Up Mentoring, My Brothers Keeper and Girls in Unity for engaging with our students to enrich and support them to success. We thank Edible Education Experience for their partnership with us in helping to re-establish our community garden and for establishing a partnership for the future.
We celebrated our diversity and highlighted the diverse population of students we serve while pushing our students to reach for excellence. Much has been done this school year and as our students head into summer, I ask that you encourage them to read, talk to them about their future, their dreams, hopes and desires for what their life will be when they become adults.

We thank you parents for your support and I encourage you to volunteer your time and engage with us through our PTSA. I thank our PTSA for their incredible work this school year. We can accomplish so much more when more parents engage in school projects, attended SAC meetings and support us through our PTSA. I wish you all a wonderful summer, I wish our 8th graders well in high school and look forward to seeing our new 6th graders along with our returning 7th and 8th graders.
