Principal's Message

Mr. Brown, Principal, College Park MS

Dear Bulldog Families, Friends and Partners,

This week we bid farewell to Mr. Harris who will be leaving the College Park Middle School community to be the next Assistant Principal at Eccleston Elementary.  This evening we also are pleased to announce the arrival of Mrs. Chenita Adamson as our new Assistant Principal.  Mrs. Adamson joins our team from Union Park Elementary School.

We congratulate our Robotics team who were 1st Place in Robot Performance at the First Lego League Robotics Competition.  Additionally, we congratulate Mrs. Piersall whose 1st period class collected the most Pop Tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.

This month we highlight the work of our Visual Performing Arts teachers: Ms. Robinson who continues to engage our students artistically, we recognize Mrs. Simmons our chorus teacher and the expansion of our Chorus program, Mr. Hafner who continues to captivate the creativity of our students through musical instruments and our top rated dance instructor Mrs. Todman and her county recognized dance troupe.

Parents, we remind students every day to “Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be Responsible.”  We ask that you assist us in reinforcing these three key areas of our Positive Behavior Support system at College Park Middle School.  Several reward trips and celebrations are planned and students with referrals or discipline infractions will not be allowed to participate.

Parents, encourage your child to turn in assignments on time and study for all upcoming tests.

Thank you to all parents who volunteer at College Park Middle School.  Your involvement makes a difference every day here.  Parents, as a gesture of our appreciation for your continued support, our National Junior Honor Society invites you to join us for our Thanksgiving Dinner on November 20, 2019 in our cafeteria at 6:00 p.m.  We look forward to meeting you and your families.

On November 13, 2019, College Park Middle will host the annual Teach-In and I invite parents to participate in this event.  Already we have 30 highly regarded professionals who will be sharing their careers with our students.

Parents, please remind your child to bring their laptop to school every day, important updates are sent to student computers while they are on our school wifi.

High School Magnet Fair: The High School Magnet Fair will be Thursday, November 14, 2019, from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at the Jones High School Gymnasium.

I thank all parents for supporting our focus on academics and for limiting distractions on campus.  Cell phones are permitted on campus but are to be turned off and put away at all times throughout the school day.  Parents, please refrain from texting or calling your child during the day and route all messages through the front office.  Confiscated phones can be retrieved by a parent or legal guardian.  Additionally, I appreciate all parents who continue to check their students’ dress code prior to their arrival on campus.  We do not permit hoodies, sagging pants, midriffs showing, slides, head coverings (unless for religious purposes), or ripped jeans that are revealing above the finger tips or that cause a distraction.  Inappropriate items (ex. Slides, hoodies) will be confiscated.

Parents, I also remind you to monitor your students’ social media and continue to collaborate with us.  In an age of social media, we know all too well that children can make poor choices when utilizing their cell phones or other electronic devices.  Please remind your student to act responsibly while utilizing social media.

If ever in need of additional information, please call our main offices at 407-245-1800.  We are happy to answer any questions you may have or clarify information for you.

Thank you for supporting College Park Middle School and thank you for the job you do each day with your child.  Together we will educate, accelerate and lead children to success.  Have a wonderful Sunday evening and remember, At College Park Middle School, you are loved and there is nothing you can do about it!
